Propane heaters can keep your home warm, but they can be a source of hazard. As a fire source, you need to be careful where you place the propane heater. Remember to set it on a firm foundation, it goes without saying that an unstable propane heater can tip over and cause a fire. More propane heaters are equipped with a tip-over function but it's best to play it safe and have the heater on stable ground.
Remember to be safe with the heater and don't test for a gas leak with an open flame. That will not be very smart as you can see. Also keep the propane heater from other sources of ignition.
On the Railroad Commission of Texas website, the Railroad Commission will offer rebates to buyers of propane heaters. The rebates range from $200 to $800. More information is available at their site: www.propane.tx.gov/rebate_program/consumer.html
